Alanis Morissette

Alanis Nadine Morissette was born in Ottawa, Canada, on the 1st June, 1974. Alanis' Greek name is an feminine form of her father's name, Alan. The name of her mother is Georgia and she has two brothers: Chad as well as Wade (Alanis' Twin). She was able to play the piano at age 6, and guitar when she was 21. Alanis made a hit single in 1986 entitled Fate stay with me (b-side : Find The Right Man). The singer recorded two albums while a dance-pop singer within Canada: Alanis (1991) and Now Is The Time (1992). When she was 18, she made the move from NY to Toronto and her attempts to collaborate with songwriters and musicians failed. Then she met her new partner in 1994: Glen Ballard. He had worked with other artists like Aretha, Michael Jackson, and Barbra. Her move to LA when she was 19. In June of 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was released through Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis discovered a method of recording songs that were intimate and personal. JLP is the third-highest-seller album ever and was sold over thirty million times across the world.
